Melissa Dunaway
Welcome and bienvenido to the Learning Assistance Center (LAC). I am Melissa Dunaway, the Manager of Operations of the tutoring center. My job is to help you find the right tutor for you and assist in setting up appointments. I am also a science tutor. I can help with biology, environmental science, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and chemistry. I prepare students to take the HESI exam to enter the nursing program. I also manage the open anatomy and physiology labs so that those students can have extra time to study bones, models, etc.
A native of northeastern Alabama, I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a B.S. in biology, an M.S. in biology, and an M.S. Ed in teaching secondary science. I taught middle and high school for ten years and community colleges for five years. After moving to Carlsbad, New Mexico, in 2012, I began as an adjunct instructor for the science department at New Mexico State University Carlsbad. I have also been a part-time and full-time science tutor in the LAC.
